"What's in the box?"

What a scene this is and what an amazing movie! The uncertainty beneath the moment when Detective Williams opens the box. The tension created by the handheld camerawork when Mills is agonized and keeps asking, "What's in the box?". Ah, sorry I got carried away by the GIF. We don't really get to see in the movie the contents of the box [thankfully], but this post is for letting you know the prospective contents of this lovely box.

Why a blog?

Writing has always helped me in straightening the intertwined strings of thoughts and ideas residing in my mind. I feel written words [or any form of art as a matter of fact] give the viewers a sense of freedom to build an image as per their individual consciousness. And that freedom eventually fabricates different perceptions of a single piece for different viewers. This I think is the greatest power of Art as we know it today and I wish to contribute to the fabrication in some way.

Being a computer engineer, I spend a lot of time on my computer [surprising, isn't it? 😉] and the covid lockdown was no different. I've been trying to learn a lot of different things like the evolution of species on Earth, growth of technology, the Universe, the working of stock markets, Machine Learning, and whatnot!
To add to this, I also tried to resume my habit of reading books, and it's been going well so far. As a result, I have so much to say [sorry, write] about all of these things and share the experiences that I've been [and will go] through, in my life. So, I'm just gonna dump a lot of this data from my nerve cells to this cloud [literally & metaphorically] as long as I can.

Why "Softbored"?

I spent a lot of time deciding the niche for this blog [Trust me, A LOT!]. Probably [ahm....] this was the reason why it took so long for me just to start the blog, and with time it kept adding gasoline to the flames of my procrastination.

But one fine evening, when I was drowning in the sea of my thoughts to identify a definitive niche ["should it be about movie reviews 🎥? or book reviews 📚? or just computer-related stuff 🖥️? No no no science is way more interesting 🪐! But imaginary stories would be more creative 😴."], a thunder of a brilliant idea struck the tree of my thoughts:

Why not a cocktail of everything? 🍹
And the niche was no longer a problem.

Fast forward to a few weeks later, naming this cocktail was fueling my procrastination now. Initially, I wanted to name it कुछ शब्द [kuchh shabd = a few words]. I even named the folder "kuchh shabd" on my computer which contained some of the initial pieces/ideas. But then it felt to be a little too poetic and brief. I was aiming to cover pieces of serious [very serious] imaginations like "what if we are reborn with the entire memory storage of our previous life?" and also wanted to share my understanding of concepts like "String Theory", so कुछ शब्द couldn't really make it through The Great Filter 👽 and went down the trash can 🗑️.

I was trying to look for a word that accommodates a cocktail of ideas of my life. And I got it while gazing at the top of my desk. I realized what better word can I find for a portrayal of an organized mess than a "softboard" 📌.
It actually has been a very significant product in my life to randomly put things up that seem worthy of remembering to me or to motivate my mind somehow. But the word itself appeared to be a little boring to me. After all, I was building this entire thing to get rid of hard boredom for anyone reading, hence a little tweak of letters churned out a very fascinating word. "softbored". It grew upon me so much that I ended up buying a domain name for the same in just a few weeks.
[Anyway who wants to pay 10,000$ for a domain name as boring as softboard, right? Hehe! 😅]

What Kind of Pieces to Expect?

There are a LOT of things I want to and plan to write about. I've tried to cover some of my topics of interest here with these GIFs and more on the About page.
We'll find out how many of these actually make it to the softbored. 🕵️‍♂️
